Gardens that look good,
feel good and do good.
I blend visual design principles with nature-friendly approaches to create gardens that are as sustainable as they are stunning. Whether you need a full garden design project, a front garden refresh, or a modest border planting plan, I welcome commissions from clients in Hampshire and the surrounding areas.
About Me
I love the outdoors and have made my living outside for much of my career. I studied environmental science at university, led multiple mountaineering expeditions, and founded an outdoor adventure film production company.
Indoors, I excelled in visual design; working for over 20 years as a graphic and motion designer for some of the world’s biggest brands including Apple, Google and IBM. I also helped create campaigns for several environmental organisations including The Wildlife Trust.
I’ve now brought my twin fascinations together by designing outdoor spaces. I achieved Distinctions in the RHS Diploma in Practical Horticulture and the Professional Garden Design Award, both at Hampshire’s Sparsholt College.

My Process
I believe that landscapes and gardens should inspire and have a positive effect on our well-being and the natural world.
I’ll design a garden that meets your requirements, suits your surroundings, and uses sustainable materials and techniques to achieve high quality landscaping.
With our changing climate, choosing plants is an art in itself. The planting design will be balanced – and most importantly, resilient – to ensure the right plants are in the right place and will thrive, whatever the weather.
Every garden design is bespoke. Every aspect is considered, right down to the smallest elements of how paths connect or what materials work well with each other, and I’ll never cut corners.
Conversation
We’ll begin with a face-to-face meeting in your garden where we’ll discuss your requirements; likes and dislikes, your ideas and ‘must-haves’, and your budget. You will then receive a written proposal with a scope of work and an estimate.
Site Survey and Analysis
If you choose to go ahead, before any design work begins, I’ll arrange a topographical survey to produce accurate measurements and levels to inform the design. I’ll collect area images, do a soil and drainage analysis and capture the important existing plants in your garden.
Concept
We’ll meet again and I’ll present my proposed design concept. Through two-dimensional plans and hand-drawn perspectives, you’ll be able visualise how your new garden will look. We’ll discuss any potential adjustments, which will be incorporated in to the final Masterplan.
Garden Build
Following your approval of the Masterplan, you will receive the necessary technical construction drawings, planting plans, plant maintenance documents and materials specification documents so you can get accurate estimates from landscapers for the build.
Planting Design and Maintenance
I can produce and supply a planting plan for any part of a new or existing garden. If required, I can also source and supply the plants and oversee the planting in line with the agreed plan.
Site Monitoring
If required, I can oversee the construction of the project to ensure that the quality and integrity of the design is upheld. This will involve regular site meetings with you and the contractor.
